Here are some suggestions on things to do.  Some are in Honolulu near Waikiki. There are many places in Waikiki but parking is more complicated.


1)


Walk barefoot in the water on the beach in about 25 minutes.

2)

Relax on a park bench over looking the Ocean, Diamond Head and Waikiki.

3)

Eat at a major food court with many different types of local, asian and national foods.

4)

Relax and have a cocktail listening to music.

5)

Shop in Waikiki's International Marketplace or Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

6)

Visit the Waikiki Aquarium and learn of all the unique Hawaiian fishes.

7)

Get a terrific panoramic view overlooking all of Waikiki from Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor.

8)

Directions:

1)

Walk barefootin the water on the beach.

Ala Moana Beach Park is a very large beach park with free parking. Ala Moana Park Drive is the name of the street that runs though the park. Parking is along side the beach and a large parking lot at the Diamond Head (east) side. There are 2 entrances into the park.

Directions: Please read the Driving directions from the airport. About 1 mile after you past the downtown area on the Right side is a boat harbor. Soon after the boat harbor look for the street name Ala Moana Park Drive and turn RIGHT. If you miss this turn then drive for another mile and turn RIGHT.

Waikiki Beach is also close. Just drive on Kalakaua Ave to the end of Waikiki and stay in the right lane going into Kapiolani park. Park then walk back toward Waikiki Beach.

2)

Relax on a park bench over looking the Ocean, Diamond Head and Waikiki.

Inside Ala Moana Park go to the large parking lot area on the Diamond Head (east) side. This park and parking is called Magic Island. You can walk on the left side of the park and sit at any of the many benches overlooking Waikiki and Diamond Head.

Kapiolani Park in Waikiki is also a great park to relax at since there are many trees providing shade. A nice small duck pond is at the beginning of the park. You can also walk along Waikiki beach a few minutes away.

3)

Eat at a major food court with many different types of local, asian and national foods.

Ala Moana Center is Hawaii's largest shopping center. The main food court is Makai Market Food Court in the center of the shopping center and on the ocean side lower level. The address is 1450 Ala Moana Blvd.

This is a good place to shop for groceries. There is a supermarket call Foodland Farms on the Ewa (west) side of the shopping center.

4)

Relax and have a cocktail listening to music.

Inside Ala Moana Center on the Macy's side on the upper level is a outdoor restaurant called Mai Tai's Bar and Grill.

There are many great spots in most large Waikiki hotels. A nice deluxe beach side restaurant and bar called Mai Tai Bar is in the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki. Breakfast 7am-10:30am, lunch/dinner from 11:30am to 9:00pm.

5)

Shop in Waikiki's International Marketplace or Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

In Waikiki are two very nice shopping centers, the International Marketplace and the Royal Hawaiian Center. Parking entrance for the International Marketplace is on Kuhio Ave. There is a $2.00 per hour cost if you buy $10 from any shop or restaurant.

Royal Hawaiian Center's parking entrance is off Royal Hawaiian Ave. Watch carefully for the small entrance driveway on the right side. Parking cost is free for 3 hours if you buy $10 from any shop or restaurant.

6)

Visit the Waikiki Aquarium and learn of all the unique Hawaiian fishes.

Waikiki Aquarium is a nice interesting small aquarium with many Hawaiian specific fishes. There is an entrance fee also be sure to call for their current hours. Directions: Drive on Kalakaua Ave straight through Waikiki to the end and you will reach Kapiolani Park. The aquarium is on the right side about half way down the park. The address is 2777 Kalakaua Ave, ph. (808) 923-9741.

7)

Get a terrific panoramic view overlooking all of Waikiki from Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor.

Puu Ualaka'a State Wayside Park is a Hawaii State park. From the lookout you have a terrific panoramic view from Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor. It will take about 35 minutes to drive there. There are restrooms and parking. The address is at 2760 Round Top Drive. As you enter the park and drive up the road on the Right side are the restrooms and on the Left side is Nutridge Street which goes to the lookout. Please remember do not leave valuables in your car and lock your car.

You can also drive all around Round Top Drive. It will take about 1 hour to drive around. At the top of the mountain (1,800 feet elevation) the name changes to Tantalus Drive.Tantalus Drive is a twisty and tree shaded road. When you are almost down the mountain (about 80%) turn LEFT at Makiki Heights Drive and that returns you to the same place you started.

If you miss this turn you will be heading toward the downtown area. Just drive toward the ocean and you will reach Ala Moana Blvd.
